Key rules for play within the Annapolis Valley Senior Men' Golf Association
Key rules for play within the Annapolis Valley Senior Men' Golf Association
- Players are at last 50 years old.
- Players are divided into 5 handicap groups assuming that all members play each event. Ladies are divided into 2 or more divisions depending on numbers.
- Players begin with their normal handicap slope rating, but this is adjusted to a handicap based on Association event scores only, after playing in 1 or more association tournaments. All members handicaps are adjusted after each tournament they play and prior to each tournament as each courses slope is different.
- If a ball is in an unplayable lie, or lost, the player may drop his ball in the closely mown portion of the fairway at a point closest to where the ball lies in its unplayable lie, or where you and your group think it lies in the case of a lost ball. Count one (1) stroke penalty. Only look for a lost ball for up to 2 minutes. If you choose to, you may take relief according as to the RCGA Rules Handbook, but our rule is to speed up play, and any handicap is kept internally.
- Putt out each hole and do not play by "Winter Rules" unless such rules are in effect at the course being played.
- Try to show up at least 1/2 hour before tee-off time so you will have time to register and get out to your hole.
- All tournaments use a shotgun start format.
- Players will be placed in foursomes as either walkers or as riders. You may play in prearranged groups if you wish.
